Scorpio:
Sexuality & Reproduction
by Ted PanDeva Zagar
Note: The author uses Sol and Luna instead
of generic terms like "sun" and "moon" when referring to the
two most important spheres in our solar system. Folk remedies, herbs, foods,
micronutrients, and other substances and therapies are included as information
and not as replacements for the diagnoses, advice, and treatments provided by
competent wellness professionals.
Scorpio
(October 23 to November 22) is the sign reigning over
the processes of birth, death, and rebirth. In a few
words, total change. Scorpio is the magician, the
transformer, the maker of higher things out of the lower
and of lower things out of the higher. The processes of
regeneration and degeneration are governed by the
Scorpion and its planetary partner, Pluto.
Because
of the nature of its rulerships, Scorpio's bodily
associations include the reproductive organs, genitals,
and prostate gland (the organs of regeneration), as well
as the bladder and rectum (the organs designed to pass
degenerative matter from the body).
When
love forges lifelong bonds between male and female, the
individual ego is sacrificed most willingly upon the
altar of partnership. The joy of sharing leads to a
bliss that cannot be dammed up by the mortal constraints
of time and space.
Ultimately,
the procreative urge flows not from some base
animalistic need, but from the endless process of
creation and recreation. We are one with both creator
and creation when we agree to plant our seeds in ground
that is not only fertile, but also receptive to being
tended and nurtured by two pairs of caring hands.
Where
Libra brings the individual into a consciousness of
being as if he or she were two, Scorpio ensures that the
two will survive physical embodiment on some fundamental
level by creating a third; our offspring represent
survival not only of the species, but also of the
respective parental gene pools and personas.
In this
light, sex is not only the act of reproduction, but it
is the phenomenal mechanism of reincarnation itself.
Ironically, it is this highly pleasurable act alone
which allows the imperfect soul to move from one form to
another until it attains that transcendent state
(represented by the phoenix-like eagle, Scorpio's other
totemic animal) where sensual pleasures are no longer
desired or needed.
When
the white eagle of the north is flying overhead and
the browns, reds, and golds of autumn lie in the
gutter, dead, remember then, that summer birds with
wings of fire flaying came to witness spring's new
hope, born of leaves decaying. Just as new life will
come from death, love will come at leisure. Love of
love, love of life, and giving without measure gives
in return a wondrous yearn of a promise almost seen.
Live hand-in-hand and together we'll stand on the
threshold of a dream.
The
Dream, Moody Blues
Because
Pluto operates so far from our source of solar
illumination (3 billion miles away!), the sign of the
Scorpion governs life's deepest mysteries and all
phenomena hidden from the light of day. Scorpio natives
make excellent researchers, explorers, and detectives.
Anton van Leeuwenhoek (b. October 24, 1632), the Dutch
biologist who pioneered the development of the
microscope, peered deeply into the unseen worlds of the
blood, muscle fibers, and the lens of the human eye.
Foods
for the Fall Season
The
cycles of nature elevate the demand for certain foods
and herbs during fall's middle month.
-
Men
might consider consuming a handful of raw, unsalted
pumpkin seeds each week so that the trace mineral
zinc can nourish and sustain the prostate
gland.
-
Herbal
extracts rendered from the saw palmetto berry and
the bark of the African pygeum tree have been
clinically proven to maintain prostate wellness;
this same combination of plant medicines can ease
pelvic congestion and painful menstruation in women.
-
Another
powerful Scorpio medicine for females is the oil of
the tea tree; a few drops in a douche is an
effective remedy for yeast infections.
