Cycles of Seven

by Julian

You enter the world as an energy, totally aware, totally open and totally knowledgeable. Everything you need to achieve the goals in your life is given to you. The seven-year cycles are a flow, a rhythm. It is not something cut and dried. You may feel it coming or going two years in advance or two years later as it builds, peaks, and wanes. The seven-year cycles are an evolutionary spiral. They belong to every being that has ever been created. There is no one who does not go through them.

There is a natural release of energy every seven years which encourages you to move forward and make changes.

Every seven years there is, within the system, a total change. It is a soul's demand to be seen as an individual, not as a collective. At the age of seven, the first realization of self begins to occur. The restlessness that is felt within is due to body chemistry changes from that of an infant to that of a child.

During the course of your life you are gradually influenced by others. Perhaps, in your early years, you can say that the sins of the father are delivered upon the child. What does that mean? It means that the prejudices and the opinions of the parent are visited upon the child, and if a child hears something long enough, it is going to accept it as fact. What other images do children have to turn to early in their lives but to those that are governing or raising them? Every one of you has been in that position. You have all been that wee babe.

Going Through The Seven

For the first seven years, you are pliable and pretty much accept that what is said is so. At the age of seven, there comes a growing awareness that you must assert your inner self. What happens? At about the age of five, there begins an aggressiveness, an aggressiveness that says, "No!"

By the age of seven, you have begun to put a rationale with the aggressiveness "No, because..." It is really something very magical that is talking. It is the inner self saying that you are a being who must hold on to your identity. Although you are pliable, you must not permit yourself to be shaped and molded to that which you, in reality, are not.

At the age of fourteen comes the second series of defiances. Once again a total change of the system occurs. It is a creation of a private space and the physical preparation for adulthood. It is here that voice change occurs within the male, and the female body development begins.

You will hear everybody in your world talking about teenagers. They talk about them as if they were lepers. They are not! They are trying to find their identities, but now a new ingredient has been added. They are not only being shaped and molded by that in which they live, the family unit, but also by that which they occupy and encounter outside of that family unit -- schools, playgrounds, grocery stores, and every other place a teenager goes.

The Power of Each Cycle

At each seven-year round, there is an aggressiveness equal to the level of physical energy released. That aggressiveness, if treated with respect and guided, can become a very powerful tool in the life of the individual. If, on the other hand, it is treated as a case of leprosy, if the individuals are shoved aside and not listened to, then there is going to be a buildup of that energy added to the next seven year cycle.

After fourteen, the next time that most people become aggressive is at twenty-one. It is now time for them to definitely cut ties and move to be on their own. At twenty-one the cycle changes. The attitude is, "Don't tell me, I know it." This is preparation emotionally and mentally for adulthood. The greatest realization of adulthood occurs at twenty-eight!

Flowing With The Cycles

The cycles of seven, fourteen, and twenty-one all deal with internal changes, and the cycle of twenty-eight is the first step in external integration with the rest of the world. Very often the thought is, "Okay, world, what have you got to give me?" At that time, you are experiencing your first Saturn return and here the person begins to reach outward from the self. You enter your Saturn return every 28-1/2 years. It is a cycle. We are not talking about astrology when we talk about this. Saturn deals with teaching and relationships to time, even though it is timeless. It does not come to "get you". It comes to present you with an opportunity.

At thirty, you are still moving out of the Saturn return so there should be an impetus to great change in the self. You should have a desire to do new things and to head in new directions. The thirty-fifth year is the cutting of the emotional umbilical cord and true emotional adulthood arrives. Here one stands alone, able to withstand being influenced by the emotional attitudes of others. It is the opportunity to become free of the emotional stigma of the past and is a major change position in the seven-year cycles.

At thirty-five comes a solidity factor that gives you the opportunity to say, "Wait a minute. If I am going to do that, whom do I have to listen to?" If you are cutting and severing the influences of the past, you are probably, for the first time, deciding for yourself what you want to do. It is a freedom factor. Understand that when we talk about the cycles of growth, we are not saying that at the age of thirty-five you cut off everybody you know and hate your parents. We are saying you finally separate those concepts which are really yours from those which belong to somebody else.

Every age, every seven-year aggression, and every seven-year unfoldment has special things to be known, understood, and worked with. There is no time in your life that does not have validity. In each seven-year cycle there is a complete body chemistry change and a need for unfoldment, a release from preconceived attitudes. This gives a freedom which permits major change in attitudes, in relationships, and in career.

The forty-second year brings a major change because it is the polarity of the twenty-eighth year. Here, the integration of the whole self occurs. The view is not, "World, what can you give me?" as in the twenty-eighth year, but, "World what have I got to give you?" It is the realization of all the growth that has occurred and the ability to use it in its most productive way.

At forty-two, you may begin to have doubts about your life. These doubts are not negative. They are based on the growth gained in the interim years between thirty-five and forty-two. This creates an ability to question whether you wish to maintain your life as it is or whether new changes are imminent. Doubt can be positive if it is leading you to be suspect of something in your life that is not good for you.

Life Continues

After forty-two comes forty-nine. Forty-nine continues to be a doubting period, and sometimes it can become more negative. At forty-nine, there are rumblings of, "Where am I headed, what do I do, and do I want this." There is this funny feeling that maybe it is too late. It is never too late. There can be the sense of "Where have I been and what have I done with my life?" If this feeling is permitted to join the ego, there is usually a tremendous thrust outward to prove that you are still in the first five seven-year cycles.

At forty-nine, one begins to question what they have in their life and very often discovers that they can let go of something in their life in order to have room to take on something new. There is a tendency to view this cycle as the last chance to be productive, to show their ability, and to make a name for themselves. Part of the reason for this is that the next seven-year cycle also ties in again to a Saturn return. The forty-ninth year gives you the opportunity to approach letting go in small ways, so that you are more prepared for that wonderful time that the seven-year cycle of fifty-six will bring you.

At fifty-six, there is very often a tendency to let go of everything that has been, and to take on a whole new life style. At forty-nine you are still trying to say, "I've got to make it before I have to let go."

Flowing With Cycles

Realize that the first seven cycles from seven to forty-nine are the spiraling of all change within you. Those that come after that time are the expansion of the same seven spirals once again. The seven -year cycles are normal, productive parts of man's evolutionary process.

Each energy cycle is one of movement in relationship to one's cycles of growth. You have been given everything you need to make all the changes you want to make in yourself and your life -- provided you listen to the reality of the inner self and are not guided solely by the external self. The external guidance will have to do with the ego. Ego permits you to move forward. Without it, you might become too passive, but your inner reality guides you from your highest space.

Cycle reactions will vary according to the responsibility load of the time. Some people at forty-nine may still be seriously involved in raising their children. They don't feel free to let go and take on something new. They can use the next cycle of fifty-six to accomplish this as long as they don't take the attitude that it is too late. The perspective on how to do it may have changed, but the ability to accomplish has not. The point is that there is a natural release of energy every seven years which encourages you to move forward and make changes. It helps to keep you from getting stuck in a rut. Flow with these cycles and you will find change less fearful.
