Compassion

by Susan Connors

We touch, we kiss, we surrender

We hold hands and wait

to be filled with sorrow.

And the tears come,

filling the silver chalice of our souls

like liquid moonlight.

Then we become something much

more than sorrow.

We become liberated;

at once, the healer

and the healed.
