  CARD DECK REVIEW:

Inspirational & Affirmation
Card Decks

Reviewed by Marie T. Russell

With the many challenges that life presents to us, we need all the help we can get (at least I do). Inspirational cards are just that -- they inspire, strengthen, and often give us that little bit of wisdom and encouragement we need just at the right time.

You can use them "one a day" as a focus for the day, one a week, or just pick one randomly from the pack when you need inspiration or a question answered. They can also be placed around your house in places where you'll see them as reminders to maintain your awareness.

These are great tools to start off the year, and then assist us.

I just can't decide with this set of 52 cards whether I like the photography or the inspiring quotations best. The photos by Dean Campbell are breathtaking... a close-up of a rose petal with dew drops, an autumn leaf in radiant colors, a single frond from a fern... The photos remind us of the beauty in nature.
The quotes support our intuition and our willingness to "go within" for answers. "As I follow my inner wisdom, life is creative and transformational. I make a contribution to the world just by being myself in every moment."
These cards are great! Beautiful and bountiful.

Well-known psychic and author Sylvia Browne brings us 50 cards that each focus on a different "real life" topic such as dreams, joy, grace, psychic ability, living with grief, handling divorce, releasing guilt,  working through mental pain, nutrition, risking failure, etc.
Each card has a lovely illustration by Kristin Dempsey, Francis Livingston, and Elizabeth Wolf. The artwork reminds me of the scenes in the movie What Dreams May Come which depict Robin Williams's character's imagination of heaven -- the vibrant colors, lush paint strokes. You feel like you could walk into the artwork and be in the heaven depicted in the movie.
An example of one card's quote: "Milton said that within everyone, there is heaven and there is hell. Choose heaven -- release the regret and the guilt. Remember that through love, God will ease your pain and cement you back together."
A beautiful card deck and a great tool for those challenging times in life.

Cheryl Richardson, author of  "Take Time for Your Life" and "Life Makeovers" brings us this "to do" deck. Each card has an action that it proposes, such as: Listen to your wise self; Release your ties to the past; Take a mini-retreat; Speak gently to yourself; Take a walk; Do something just for fun...
52 cards with a recommended "action" and an affirmation to support it. Jean-Paul Avisse's artwork graces 35 of the cards; Corey Wolfe and Shirley Ann's artwork are featured on the other cards.
This is a beautiful deck -- another one where the artwork is so captivating that you almost don't want to turn to the other side, however, the inspiration side also has the artwork in the background in a "shadowed" format. Truly lovely and supportive cards.
These can be used as a "lesson for the day" or simply pick a card randomly and let the Universe give you the appropriate message each time.

What a creative thought! These cards are "sticky" so you can paste them up anywhere and just peel them off when you want to move them or replace them. This is great for those of us who like to put affirmation cards where we can see them... on the kitchen cupboard door, on the mirror, next to the computer, etc... And, technology being what it is, these cards don't lose their "stickyness". If they do, you just wash the card with water, and, voilą, the card is sticky again.
The drawings on these cards are very "childlike" encouraging us to return to simplicity and our "original self".
The affirmations are by Louise Hay, so nothing more needs to be said. (For those of you not familiar with Louise's work with affirmations, she is "the" authority on affirmations.) Great cards!
