BOOK REVIEW:

The Good News: It's Cancer

The first thing that strikes you about this book is its title. You know right off that this is not your ordinary "health book". What does the author mean -- the "good news" is it's cancer! The good news as you read through this wonderful book is the discovery of the insights and wisdom shared by Alice McDowell, a "twice-survivor" of cancer.

Though this book is written for people who have or have had cancer, it is a great self-help manual for everyone. Whether you or someone in your family has had cancer, whether you ever entertained a fear that you might ever get cancer, or even if the thought has never even crossed your mind, this book is a wonderful tool for a "healthier and happier life" and for healing ills that are physical as well as emotional.

Alice shares her own life story with us and hers is an experience we can probably all relate to -- the communication problems between mother and child, the problems with self-esteem, the feelings of guilt, the fears that run our lives, the burdens of stress and worry that we carry with us, etc.

Though I've never had cancer, this book was an eye-opener and a wonderful motivator. I greatly enjoyed reading it. Alice concludes the book with 12 Steps that worked for her, as well as with 45 "Do"s and "Don't"s. These steps include such tools as journaling, meditating, dealing with anxiety, etc. The "do"s and "don't"s are wonderful small easy things to put into practice every day.

I greatly recommend this book for everyone. It is a primer in positive thought, self-healing, and creating a life of joy.
