BOOK REVIEW:

Moments of Grace

Neale Donald Walsh’s work never ceases to amaze me. The writing sparkles with the clarity of crystal and the wisdom of the ages. His latest book "Moments of Grace" highlights the author’s talent for weaving stories together that leave the reader feeling that miracles are possible for each of us.

I remember a time in 1996 when I first reached for Walsch’s original book "Conversations with God." Strolling down the aisles of a Texas library my eyes fixed upon a simple and unadorned book jacket. I read the title and then said to myself, "A conversation with God – yeah, right!" Rolling my eyes, I quickly placed it back upon the shelf. In further proof that all things happen in divine timing, the book reappeared in my life after I moved to Colorado a few years later. This time, I devoured it, and then flew through the second, third, and subsequent books written by Walsch, wanting to absorb the information as fast as possible.

"Moments of Grace" is a bit of a departure from the author’s previous books. In it, he takes the reader on a journey from one miracle to the next. In the Introduction, Walsch explains, "The book is about moments in our lives when God steps in and gives us a great big hug." And, you’ll feel as if you’ve just been hugged after you’ve finished the book.

Many of the stories will stay with you for several days, but the one I’ll never erase from memory comes in the second chapter and is called "There are Many Mansions." It’s the story of a woman who asks God for a home. She arrives at a realty office late in the evening with her family in tow. She explains that she’s there to buy home without a down payment, without prearranged financing, and on her husband’s modest salary as a janitor, even though it’s the first job he has held in ten years.

I don’t want to reveal the conclusion of the story, because you simply must read the delightful end to this woman’s faithful journey in creating a home for her family. After you’ve read this book, you’ll know miracles can and do happen, and you’ll be ready to produce them in your own life.
