I've always been fascinated with the idea of
intuition, but felt that I wasn't "gifted" in that area. According to
Rosemary Ellen Guiley, though, we are all intuitive. And, whatever you
call it -- gut instinct, a hunch, or sixth sense -- we can all develop
our intuition and use it in our everyday lives.
This book is divided into three parts. Part I defines
intuition, explains the different levels and varieties of intuition, and
gives examples of how intuition affects our lives. A short self-test
will convince you that everyone is, indeed, intuitive. It truly sparked
my interest to read further.
Examples of ways to enhance your receptiveness to
hearing that "still, small voice" within are also discussed in Part I.
Part II gets down to the practice of listening to
your intuition. Ninety-Four exercises, ranging from intuitive breathing
to pendulum dowsing, using dreams to get messages from your intuition
and "seeing" with your third eye, are all laid out in easy-to-follow
directions. According to Rosemary Ellen Guiley, these exercises will
help you "get comfortable with expanding your unseen senses" and are
"helpful for improving your accuracy."
After trying most of the exercises and beginning to
use my intuition on a daily basis, I was ready for more. How could I use
my intuition in my life? What were some practical ways my intuition
could benefit me?
Part III, Using Your Intuition, answered all of these
questions and more. Guiley offers a myriad of examples and more
exercises for allowing those messages "hidden" in our subconscious to
come to the surface. She gives concrete ideas for problem solving,
decision making, achieving goals, improving creativity and health, and
much more.
Although I read Breakthrough Intuition in a
relatively short period of time, it is a book that will provide months,
if not years, of insight and practice in developing my intuition. The
exercises in Parts II and III can be worked through at a fairly quick
pace, but I can see that re-reading and working the lessons at a much
slower rate will be very beneficial. Easy-to-read, yet thorough,
Breakthrough Intuition can be digested in bits and pieces, savored
slowly, or read through quickly and then used as a reference for years
to come.
Rosemary Ellen Guiley has truly written a book
worthwhile for anyone wishing to connect to their Higher Self.
