BOOK REVIEW:
The
Tao of Healing:
Meditations for Body & Spirit

The Tao Of Healing epitomizes the intention of
"the gift that keeps on giving." I knew that I would like this book, but
I did not know what a most profound effect it would have on me. It is
said best by Hugh Prather (author of
Spiritual Notes to Myself) when he states that Trevino does not
write about how to be healed, or how to heal, he immerses the reader
directly into the healing state.
Haven Trevino was in latter stages of amyotrophic
lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's disease) when he wrote this book. He
could have focused on his own pain and suffering, but he chose to live
in the light. In his own words:
"What I have learned, and am still learning, is
this: Beneath our shells of pain and darkness lives a light that
transcends description, and all it takes to reunite us is our
intention to do so. This light, or love, is who we truly are, and true
healing is remembering this simple truth."
In these pages you will find the love that will
heal you, that will bring your various selves together in harmony. This
is a book that one reads not straight through, but a story at a time.
Through the light of the poetry contained within its pages, we can
reunite with the light within ourselves.
If you want to be a better person, to become at
one with yourself, to extend a hand of forgiveness and compassion to
yourself and others -- this is the book for you.
From the
book:
"In
silence the teachings are heard;
In stillness the world is transformed."

About the Book's Author
Haven Trevino was in the last
stages of Lou Gehrig's disease when he wrote this book, a detailed
adaptation of the Tao Te Ching. In the preface, written by Gerald
G. Jampolsky, M.D. (founder of the Center For Attitudinal Healing)
it is noted that Mr. Trevino was an inspiration to all that knew
him, rather than a victim of his disease. |
