With Uranus in Aquarius (January 12, 1996 to March 10, 2003), we began to see several new healing modalities spring up. While many of these have been around for awhile, the demands of the time are causing them to become more visible and accessible.

Uranus rules electricity, magnetism, computer technology, as well as our higher nervous system. Aquarius and its polar opposite Leo govern the process of oxygenation and circulation.

One of the strongest new healing modalities that is becoming popular is magnetic field therapy. The progressive degradation of the Earth's magnetic field, combined with our increased electronic environment, is responsible for many ailments ranging from fatigue and headaches to immune dysfunction. Therefore, we all need to replenish our electromagnetic energy. In an attempt to deflect the "electrical smog", people are placing magnets near their computers or next to copper tubing. Others are using magnetic sleep systems, such as mattresses and pillows, to balance their magnetic energy. Still others are using magnets on various parts of their bodies to increase circulation and help rid themselves of pain.

Scientists have discovered that if a blood vessel passes at right angles over an alternating magnetic field -- first a north pole magnet and then a south pole magnet -- the blood vessel will expand, thus increasing its circulation capacity.1 The Japanese developed a magnetic pad with a checkerboard pattern of north and south pole magnets, so that any blood vessel going in any direction will expand as it crosses over the pad. They put these magnets into mattresses, pillows, car seats, bracelets, rings, and other devices.

Since 1958 there has been much research done in Japan on the use of these devices for various health conditions, which they refer to as Magnetic Deficiency Syndrome. In the treatment of sprains, strains, broken bones, burns, and cuts, magnetic field therapy allows these conditions to heal better, more quickly, and with less scar tissue. In the treatment of chronic conditions, such as some forms of arthritis, degenerative joint conditions, diabetic ulcers, and cancer, magnetic field therapy has shown dramatic results in reversing the condition.2

One of the new diagnostic methods being used in modern medicine is MRI (magnetic resonance imaging). This system visualizes tissues within the body without invasive techniques or x-rays and is used prior to surgery to look for damage to injured joints or other abnormalities. Other tools in hospitals include MKG (magnetocardiogram), similar to an EKG, and MEGS (magnetoencephalogram), similar to an EEG.

Yet, the use of magnets is very old. In the 4th century B.C.E., Aristotle wrote of the therapeutic properties of magnets, while in the 2nd century C.E., Greek physician Galen used natural magnets to relieve pain from many ailments. It was in the 1st century C.E. when the Chinese began documenting effects on health that were related to variations in the Earth's magnetic field.3

Buryl Payne, Ph.D., inventor of the first biofeedback instruments, discusses the many ways magnetism affects living organisms. In his books, Getting Started in Magnetic Healing and The Body Magnetic & Getting Started in Magnetic Healing and Magnetic Healing, Advanced Techniques for the Application of Magnetic, he cites things such as the pH balance, hormone production from the endocrine glands, and the altering of enzyme activity as the result of depleted magnetic fields. Today there is much research in the U.S. and Europe on magnetic healing, and Russia has been using magnets for a long time to cure various types of ailments and to speed recovery after surgery.

As I write this article, Uranus is exactly opposite my Pluto to the degree and minute, and within 1 ? of squaring my Ascendant. I am finding magnetic healing to be extremely helpful in balancing the higher energies coming through.

Another Uranian field, computer technology, is also being used for healing, especially diagnostic work. At a healing conference in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, I met someone who had a scanner that scanned 23 acupuncture points on the face and then printed a series of numbers on a computer. These numbers were then used to interpret both physiological imbalances and their psychological roots. The accuracy of the conclusions was phenomenal. No doubt someone who has spent many years studying Oriental facial diagnosis could come up with similar conclusions, but in this Aquarian Age, things are being done quickly!

There are many computer programs that work along with Radionics, a system that measures the vibration of a person energetically by taking a saliva or hair sample, and then printing out organ deficiencies, nutritional supplements, and herbs. There are also many homeopathic computer programs that analyze symptoms and then come up with the appropriate remedy.

Another area of healing that is coming into its own is sound therapy. Working with sound waves to balance existing physical, emotional, and psychic states is very powerful. There are many tapes out that work with the frequencies of sacred geometry and recreate sounds to balance an individual's own frequencies or to provide frequencies that she or he lacks. Sound wave therapy is helping ailments ranging from PMS to Bell's palsy.

Additionally, as we connect with higher Uranian frequencies, we need more oxygen to balance our bodies and renew our nervous systems. Dark green leafy vegetables, such as mustard greens, collard greens, kale, and chard, are rich in chlorophyll, which provides oxygen to the body, just as it does to plants. Chlorophyll is the magnesium ion and magnesium is ruled by Uranus. Drinking liquid chlorophyll can also be helpful, especially after airplane travel, which knocks out our own magnetic fields. Chlorophyll helps to oxygenate our systems. Other nutritional supplements that are antioxidants include germanium, CoEnzyme Q-10, and pycognenol. These may be obtained in capsules, tablets, liquid, or colloidal forms.

In this Aquarian Age, we are going to be using nervine herbs in greater amounts than previously. Basic nervine herbs are chamomile, a mild relaxant that is especially good for children; catnip, a calming tea for nervousness and upset stomachs; and spearmint, which is a mild nervine that can be mixed with other herbs. Stronger herbs include vervain, which is also a balancer for the female system; valerian, which has an anti-spasmodic effect and is used for insomnia; and hops, another good herb for insomnia and deep relaxation.

Flower remedies also work well to relieve physical symptoms of nervousness and tension, which are caused by anxieties and worries. Bach Flower Remedies include Vervain, which helps balance stress, tension, and overworked nerves, and Star of Bethlehem, which is used for the effects of shock and is one of the ingredients of Rescue Remedy. Flower Essence Remedies from California (FES remedies) include Chamomile, which helps with the feeling of being anxious and restless, and Dill, which is used for being overwhelmed by too much stimuli.

Healing in the 21st century will include many techniques that work with the etheric body, such as Reiki, polarity therapy, and Jin Shin Do. As we become more sensitive instruments, we will require more subtle therapies. Our continuous challenge will be to balance the electronic pollution bombarding our nervous systems so that we will not lose sight of our real purpose in being here.
