Aloha kakou - greetings to all.

When one of the slower moving planets moves into new signs, it takes a while for us to get used to this new rhythm. If you think back to the end of the year 1995, Pluto had moved from Scorpio into Sagittarius, Uranus into Aquarius and Chiron went into Libra. Early in 1996, Jupiter shifted into earthy Capricorn from fiery Sagittarius. As you may recall, 1996 was quite a time for us to get used those planets in their new signs and that vibration.

About a month ago, the biggest planet in our Solar System, has moved into Gemini. Jupiter on average takes about a year to move through each sign. This year had an interesting exception, as it took only about four months to zip through Taurus! So this week?s column will be about the flow of its current Gemini influence to all the signs.

Jupiter went into Gemini on June 29th at 9:35pm HST, and will retrograde at 11? Gemini on September 29th at 3am HST. Direct motion returns on January 24th 2001, at 9:51pm HST at 1 Gemini. It will go into Cancer on July 12th 2001 at 2pm HST.

What is Jupiter all about?

A great gaseous giant, Arthur Clarke suggested in his 2001 series of science fiction books that it could have been a second sun in our solar system. It is the planet that is the home of the great Red Spot. Astronomers had a wonderful time a few years ago as the remnants of a comet plowed into its atmosphere and blasted impact holes into its rotating gases.

Astrologically, it is the planet that rules Sagittarius and was the ruler of Pisces before Neptune was discovered in the late 1800?s. (It doesn?t hurt to remember this rulership for Pisces... it lifts them into a lovely energy.)

As with anything in life, there are the beneficial qualities and those to be cautious of. The positive values assigned to Jupiter are -- to name a few -- idealistic, philanthropic (i.e.: generous!), wisdom, reverence, ambitious, faith, success, vision, humorous, inspirational, dignified, sharing knowledge (teacher), honorable, and expansive.

Sounds really nice, huh? Well, remember that sometimes Jupiter can act like the family Uncle who?s a tad bit on the crazy side... wearing loud clothes, slightly drunk, slightly over weight, slightly louder than what the neighbors would like to hear at midnight, always giving the nephews and nieces money to buy candy, overly optimistic, and never worried about tomorrow. Let?s boil all this down to the word ?excess?.

If you started a project or made a major commitment to a goal between March, 1988 to March, 1989, then you are possibly harvesting the fruits of that endeavor.

How the signs work with Jupiter in Gemini

If you know your chart, and have planets in these signs, other than your Sun, you?ll be picking up some of these influences in your life.

Let?s start with the sign it rules: Sagittarius.

Ok, so right off we know that while it is in Gemini, it is opposing Sagittarius. Quite a challenge when your trusty ruler is not quite in harmony with your natural vibration. All the Sagittarians need to be aware that Jupiter is going to bring a wonderful teacher into their lives... encompassing all the qualities above. Could be a difficult teacher, possibly be a marvelous teacher. It may be a marvelous vision, but it could be too impractical. Perhaps some long distance travel to meet that teacher or expanding yourself through your contacts. Your discernment needs to be at the highest level during this year.

Now to the sign it is presently in: Gemini.

Geminis will need to watch their waistlines. There is the chance you may expand your waistline by indulging yourself in the various sweets and other foods you are usually moderate about eating. Many other opportunities for successful endeavors on various projects may occur. Recognition for your creativity, use of supplies, resources, and whatever is needed to accomplish your goals. The inner teacher may wake up and share all its knowledge with you and all those around you. The inner judge, jury, and executioner may also become more strongly present. Chatting up or writing long letters to friends and loved ones will also be possible, so get the cheapest long distance rates you can find. A new urge to strive for your loftiest personal goals may also be felt.

The other air signs - Libra and Aquarius

These two will have a beneficial contact via a trine. Trine energy is like fiber optic connections -- no static on the line. Total ease of communication. The Librans born between the 25th and the 28th will have a marvelous time as Jupiter will make a trine to Neptune in Aquarius, which fills in the empty arm of a grand trine. This will occur around the 27th of July, again on 9th of December, and finally on April 5th, 2001. This can bring a burst of creativity, luck, and Divine Blessings. Those working with Spiritual principles of prosperity may find amazing breakthroughs in their meditations and prayers. In June of 2001 (the 19th) there will be one pass of Jupiter to Uranus also by trine, forming another grand trine to the natal Sun in Libra, allowing those born around the 15th through 20th to experience this unusual jolt of expansive radical transformation. If some of you have been wanting that big push to help you move on some internal urges, this one will pop the cork that?s been holding you back.

Aquarians receive the energy of the single trine placement from Gemini to planets in their sign. This is an alignment that is no way diminished in its impact or benefit to the Water-Bearers. Those born with Uranus, Neptune, or Pluto in Libra will receive the benefits of the grand trine energies described above, with the unique twists each of these outer planets bring. These three outer planets are ?generational? in their placement, so we?ll witness Aquarians of different ages having this interesting vibrational experience.

The fire signs of Aries and Leo

How will the Fire Signs of Aries and Leo take in Jupiter?s message? This is a lovely passage creating sextile messages of direct mental communications of Jupiter?s blessings to both of these signs. Gemini happens to be half way between Aries and Leo, so in this case, being in the middle is a very nice thing. Aries and Leos may find an expansion in their personal energies, an ability to tackle projects and have more success due to direct contact with an expansive wisdom with them. Your sense of humor may be tickled more often, perhaps you?ll be choosing to watch funny movies more often. Traveling and being generous enough to take someone else along could be possible.
