The Dawning of Our Future

The Eyes of Heaven

Aloha kakou - Greetings to all!

Many of you have probably heard about the upcoming (2001) astrological/astronomical line up around the New Moon in Taurus. The New Moon itself is on May 3rd, where the Sun and Moon conjunct at 14 degrees, with a host of other planets visiting the 30 degrees of the Bull.

Let me give you some background about Taurus and New Moon energy. Also, let?s first look at one of the possibilities regarding why these astrological events generate so much attention.

In times past, when we did not know scientifically about our world, we looked to the stars, and to those who could interpret the patterns of our neighboring planets. Royalty consulted astrologers to predict crises within the borders of the nation so resources could be prepared. Astrologers would die if an event was not predicted correctly. Perhaps in these times, some of those old astrologers are back in body again, and don?t want to die because they missed predicting an event. Therefore, right away, let me say, please do not fear this upcoming episode.

Taurus Energies

Let us focus on Taurus. The first earth sign. Grounded, practical, ?earthy?, sensuous, and explorer of all the physical senses. Plodding along, perhaps, towards a goal without being moved off their focus. Collectors of things valuable, perhaps only to themselves, but then there?s that long range planning - they see the future value being worth the wait. Stubborn, patient, yet only for so long. Great gardeners.

The ruling planet for Taurus is Venus. In mythology, it is also known as Aphrodite. A sensual goddess, indulgent, and playful. As a planetary influence, this is the place of reception. How a person receives, or their impressions of, anything - love, money, sex, beauty, pleasure, music. On the other hand, there are also the qualities of being capricious, oversensitive, vain, impractical, lazy and jealous.

Viewed from Earth, Venus can be anywhere from very close to the Sun, or up to 45 degrees away, on either side of the Sun. For this upcoming pile-up, Venus is a few degrees ?behind? the Sun. Right now it is a dawn star, preceding the sunrise, and it will continue to be like this through the Taurus New Moon.

New Moon

New Moon is the presence of the Moon in the same degree as the Sun. We cannot see the Moon from Earth on that day. A few nights later, the Moon is a teeny sliver in the western sky at sunset - some call that a ?new? moon when it is actually in the first quarter phase. Energetically a new moon can be considered a beginning time in our monthly lives. Planting metaphorical seeds of ideas, plans, and the like at that time for completion and fruition two weeks later on the Full moon is a way many quietly live their lives.

Taurus Conjunction

The timing of an ?event? that impacts people usually requires some tension building to create a trigger point. What?s happening before the New Moon? Jupiter and Saturn have been in Taurus for several months. Mars joins the Taurus party on the 22nd of March for about six weeks. As the Sun ends its annual parade through Aries on the 19th of April, Mercury and Venus are still in Aries. Those two add their vibrations to Taurus respectively on the 29th and 30th of April.

Mars is the only planet visiting Jupiter and Saturn by conjunction (sharing the same degree) before the New Moon. If anything may trigger an event in people?s lives, it could be the passing of the Moon through Scorpio, making an opposition (180 degrees) to Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn on the first day of Taurus! As of the New Moon, Mars will have departed Taurus for Gemini.

Fitting the Pieces Together

I will use just one keyword for each planet here, since pages can be written about each of these planets: Jupiter, expansion; Saturn, constriction; Mars, activator; Mercury, mind; Venus, receiver; Sun, self; Moon, emotions. And one word for Taurus - determination.

One possible sentence that can be constructed from these keywords for the New Moon is: the determined self, joined with emotions, receives thoughts that are expanded upon and then constricted.

What do you come up with? If you come up with fearful interpretations, then you are tapping into one of the ?lesson? aspects of Saturn - Fear and Loss.

This is a great alignment, with all of us remembering to have a right-use of power and transformation (a difficult aspect of Pluto to the New Moon pair). We?re grounding all the energies of the Aquarian age in the present to manifest in the future all the positive aspects of Taurus, now, in this time - the new paradigm.

The only element at the time of the New Moon not represented by a planet in its sign is water - which is the element that processes emotions. Take a bath, go to the beach, or visit some body of water. Just having a burbling fountain or fish tank near you as you pray or meditate will help. If you are a person who?s stuffed your emotions throughout your life, then you?ll need to be working on releasing them with an appropriate therapist or counselor, to be able to work through this time of change.

This is a very active time - whatever you choose to pray or meditate about at this New Moon, will be placed into action very swiftly. An example - if one prays for Universal peace, this New Moon?s energy may accelerate some conflicts before peace is brought to those communities.

In conclusion: choose your thoughts and intentions wisely at the time of the Taurus New Moon! Perhaps more so than ever in the past, we need to be deliberating and considering what our words mean, their impact now, next week, and as our native siblings say, consider the impact on the seventh generation. Yet, do not fear. Consider this poem by Frank Herbert from his novel Dune:

The Litany Against Fear
I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death
that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past
I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

May you all walk in beauty.
Malama pono (take care). NamastT.
