Contemplating and Integrating the Power of the Force

To know and integrate the power of the Force in your life, I suggest the following:

Take time to observe the rhythms of the Universe.

Watch how the stars appear in the sky in their correct positions, every single night. Or if the night sky isn't clear enough for stargazing, spend an hour or two browsing through David Malin's extraordinary book, A View of the Universe.

Then remind yourself that the sun really does come up every morning in the east and go down every evening in the west. And that the moon appears exactly as predicted in the night sky. And that the seasons continually change so that spring arrives just when it's supposed to, with all the appropriate flourishes like flowers budding and birds migrating at precisely the right time, always returning to the very place they're supposed to return to.

Then ponder upon the millions of cells in your body. Meditate on how an amazingly complex living, breathing, thinking human being like yourself developed from a single fertilized egg. Guided and directed by nothing more (and nothing less!) than the amazingly complex information (intelligence) which is stored in the DNA.

The Universe Is Intelligent

Does this constant movement... such as the growth of a human being from a single cell—or the vast dance of the stars and galaxies—or the steady rotation of the earth on its axis as we hurtle through space... not to mention the biological rhythms of all the myriad plants and animals—does any of this astonishing and wonderful movement of energy seem to be random, haphazard or chaotic in any of its aspects?

Not in the least. In fact, the more you observe, the more you allow yourself to experience the infinite field of energy swirling in you and around you, the more you will discover that orderly patterns exist everywhere in Nature. Then it will probably dawn on you—if it hasn't already—that not only is the Universe intelligently organized, the Universe Itself is Intelligent!

Be Silent and Observe

I also suggest you treat yourself to some exquisite silence out in Nature. Give yourself time to contemplate and absorb just a small fraction of the intricacies of this magnificent dance of the Universe that is going on in us and around us all the time.

Try shorter or longer periods of silence in Nature and just observe. Besides being so much fun, being silent in Nature also makes it much easier to digest and absorb the ideas and concepts in this book.

Observe the cosmic dance—the intelligent cosmic dance—which is taking place everywhere, all around you, in every leaf and tree, in every blade of grass, in every bird and bee, in every wave of the sea and cloud in the sky, in every cell of your body.

Then Savor the Force!

Contemplate, yes contemplate!

And then savor the Force!

Let the immenseness of this dance of Infinity sink slowly into your consciousness. Watch it and absorb it, until you begin to sense, even if only faintly at first, the Force or Cosmic Intelligence which is behind everything, which is directing, coordinating, managing, arranging, organizing this infinite dance of which we all are a part.

And call this Force anything you like!

Call this Force—Cosmic Intelligence or God or Brahman or the God Force or Divine Substance or the Source. Call it whatever you like. But whatever you call it, we're talking about the First Cause which is creating/manifesting the Infinity of All Things.

The Power of the Field

One of our best teachers, Deepak Chopra, calls the universe "the unified field" or " the field of pure potentiality". Another great teacher, Emmet Fox, calls it God, Mind or Cause.

What these enlightened men say includes things like this:

Emmet Fox: "God is the religious name for the Creator of all things. Mind is the metaphysical name, and Cause is the natural science name for God. Anything that has any real existence is an idea in the One Mind; and this is the metaphysical interpretation of the universe. From the natural science point of view we may say that all creation is the result or effect of One Cause (God), and that there are no secondary causes. Now a cause cannot be known directly. It can be known only by its effect, and so the universe is the manifestation or effect of Cause or God..." (from his book Alter Your Life)

Deepak Chopra: "Behind the visible garment of the universe, beyond the mirage of molecules, the maya - or illusions - of physicality, lies an inherently invisible, seamless matrix made up of a nothingness. This invisible nothingness silently orchestrates, instructs, guides, governs, and compels nature to express itself with infinite creativity, infinite abundance, and unfaltering exactitude into a myriad of designs and patterns and forms." (from his book Creating Affluence)

Contemplate the Power of the Force

Now how do abstract ideas like this affect our daily lives? What do they mean in practical terms? How can we use them to improve the quality of our lives?

I believe it's very simple: We are all a part of this Infinite Universe and we're all interconnected. Which means, as part of this immense dance of infinity and energy, we all—each and every one of us—have access to the strength and intelligence of the Force.

It is only our small egos, which seem to separate us. It is only our illusions—the illusions/ignorance of the collective consciousness, which we have learned and accepted—that limit our true power and our access to the Force.

So read this again and again. Ponder on these things until your subconscious mind has absorbed these ideas and concepts and then ponder some more!
