Marie T. Russell's Daily Inspiration

The focus for today is:  I choose to learn from my life experience and pain.

Our body speaks to us in many ways. We're all familiar with the stomach grumbling indicating it wants food, or dryness of mouth indicating the need liquids. The body also speaks to us by sending painful messages, usually when it has failed to get our attention in other ways, thus headaches, toothaches, backaches, etc. are all messages from our body.

So when we get any type of pain, rather than resist and complain, we can stop and ask for the message, so that we may remedy the cause, and not just the symptom. Taking a pill may get rid of our back pain, or headache, or toothache, but if the original problem is not addressed, the body will have to keep sending us the painful message until we "get it".

Thus making friends with our pain involves taking time to listen and reflect on what it is telling us, so that we can take appropriate action to avoid the continuation of the painful messages.

Today's Focus was inspired by the InnerSelf.com article:
